As everyone knows, we are a big fan of spreading supplier love. This week, our in-house bakers Kay and Emma went out with Pete on a lobster fishing boat and got to see just how much hard work is put into getting a lobster on your plate. All these photos are taken by the lovely Kay x
So, Kay and Emma are usually in the Wood Oven with flour on their noses and icing on their hands – but this week they popped on their woolly hats and headed for the sea. They hopped aboard ‘De Ja Vu’ – the name of the lobster fishing boat owned by the amazing Pete Dadds. They set out right next to Mudeford Quay, going about a mile out to sea near Hengistbury head to see what they could catch.
Emma and Kay had a great time on the sea and even got to watch the sunrise. How lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place – and to get these amazing opportunities to get an insight into how our food goes from 'place' to plate. Pete is a master lobster catcher and supplies it to Bournemouth local seafood supplier – Hutchings. Pete is also a volunteer helm for Mudeford Lifeboat – basically, he’s awesome, and we are so happy to have him bringing us the freshest of lobster.
Check out the rest of the amazing photos – all taken by the lovely Kay who kindly let us feature them in our blog.
